LIMITLESS SPORTS

Precision
Intra-Training Fueling

A specific blueprint for long bike rides to restore hormonal health and maximize energy availability.

The "Always Fed"
Athlete

Fueling during the ride is your strongest weapon against RED-S.

The Carb-to-Hormone Link

Suppressing Cortisol

Training in a fasted state spikes cortisol (stress hormone). High cortisol signals the brain to "shut down" the reproductive system (the period) to save energy.

Metabolic Safety

Eating during a ride tells your brain that energy is abundant. This "safety signal" is what allows your body to restart the menstrual cycle.

The Precise Hourly Target

60-90g

Grams of Carbs Per Hour

For any ride longer than 90 minutes, your target is 60 to 90 grams of carbohydrates per hour. This is precise and non-negotiable for recovery.

Consistency = Hormonal Restoration

A Perfect Fueling Hour

00:00

Start the ride with full tanks (Breakfast).

00:20

First dose. 25g Carbs (Gel or Snack).

00:40

Second dose. 25g Carbs (Liquid mix).

01:00

Third dose. 25g Carbs (Solid bar).

Total

75g reached for the first hour.

The "20-Minute" Rule

Front-Load Your Intake

Do not wait until you are hungry. Hunger is a late signal that your body is already in a deficit. Start eating within the first 20-30 minutes of your ride.

  • Feed early, feed often.
  • Prevents the "empty tank" feeling.
  • Protects your bone health.
Every 20 Min

Your Fueling Toolset

Liquid Fuel

80g mixes (like Beta Fuel). The easiest way to hit high targets without chewing. Sip every 5-10 minutes.

Energy Gels

25-40g per gel. Quick, simple sugars. Best for when the intensity increases or your stomach feels full.

Solid Foods

Rice cakes, dates, bananas. Great for long, steady endurance. Real food keeps your gut happy over 3+ hours.

Strategic Mix

Mix your sources

Using different types of carbs (Glucose + Fructose) allows your body to absorb more than 60g per hour without stomach issues.

Example hour:
1 Bottle (40g) + 1 Gel (25g) + 1 small Date (10g) = 75g total.

CH MIX GEL Glucose + Fructose Protocol

Duration-Based Strategy

Ride Duration Carb Target Recommended Fuel Mix
Under 90 Minutes 30-45g / hour 1 Bottle of sports drink mix.
2 to 4 Hours 60-75g / hour 1 Bottle + 1 Gel + 1 Solid Snack.
4+ Hours (Endurance) 75-90g / hour Liquid calories + Real food (Rice cakes).
Interval Sessions 90g+ / hour High-carb liquids & Gels ONLY.

The 30-Minute Recovery

PROTEIN CARBS 4 : 1 RATIO

The 4:1 Ratio

Recovery starts the second you step off the bike. To restore the tanks, you need a 4:1 ratio of Carbs to Protein within 30 minutes.

Goal: 1.2g Carbs per kg of bodyweight + 25g Protein. This halts muscle breakdown immediately.

Cortisol Spike: Fasted vs. Fueled

Fueled (60g/hr)
Low Stress
Fasted Training
High Stress (Amenorrhea Risk)

Fueled training keeps your "Stress Horizon" low, allowing hormones to remain active.

Fuel is Medicine

Your period is your "fifth vital sign." If it is missing, your body is in an energy crisis. Use this precise fueling plan to end that crisis.

CONSISTENCY > INTENSITY
